One of the major opportunities for foreign investors in Bankgkok is investing in condominiums. This is the only type of property which can be owned outright. The outright ownership comes with a much needed peace of mind when investing in foreign real estate. Growth in this particular type of real estate has been phenomenal and has outperformed all other types of real estate by a wide margin. Between 2009 and 2013 the prices of condos in Bangkok rose 43%. Compare this to single family houses at 13% and town homes at 24% and you see that condos are the clear winner.

Okay, with that being said you can see there is major opportunities here. Just a quick look and you can buy a nice 2 bedroom 2 bath 1000 square foot condo for about $243,000. Not too bad. You could rent this out for anywhere from $1500 to $2500 or more. Now I could buy a 3 bedroom 2 bath house where I live for about the same price. But I would not get near the same amount for rent. On top of that housing is only appreciating at about 7% per year where as in Bangkok it is appreciating at about 15% per year. In other words I would be getting twice the return on investment than I would investing locally.

The other thing that you need to understand is that the demand for condos in Bangkok from foreign investors is almost insatiable. What this means to you is that you pretty much have a liquid asset. By this I mean that once you list it is will get sold very quickly.

Do yourself a favor and research the real estate market in Bangkok. I think you will be just as excited about this real estate market as I am. There are definitely some great opportunities to diversify your portfolio as well as ride the wave of a very strong market.
