She enjoys explaining the diagnostics and principles behind acupuncture treatments, and can translate Chinese medical terminology into language understandable by the western mind. She is well-known for her gentle acupuncture treatments which are absolutely painless but amazingly powerful. Behnaz embraces the best of both Chinese and western medicine and thinks of Chinese medicine as an excellent complement to treatments used in western medicine.
Acupuncture is the art and science of manipulating the flow of energy throughout the body by insertion of thin needles at specific acupoints. It eases blockages in different part of the body to restore the harmonious flow of energy and blood, thus relieving pain or discomfort. Acupuncture balances the hormones, enhances the immune system, and improves health and well-being.
The modern scientific explanation for acupuncture is that by inserting an acupuncture needle into an acupuncture point, certain nerve fibers are stimulated, which results in a nerve impulse being sent to the spinal cord. Here, endorphins are released. These substances provide local inhibition (blocking) of the incoming pain signals or trigger the release of other chemicals and hormones, which influence the body’s own internal regulating system.
We use only sterile and disposable needles in our office to improve health in a safe and painless way.
- Auricular Acupuncture
-

Auriculotherapy (ear acupuncture) is based on the idea that the ear is a micro-system, meaning that the entire body is represented on the auricle and can be treated by stimulation of the surface of the ear exclusively. It is used in treatment and prevention of diseases by stimulation of the certain acupuncture points in or around the ear with needles, magnets, or ear seeds.
- Electro-Acupuncture
-

Electro-acupuncture is applying a low-intensity pulsing electric current to the needles, which is then conducted through to the acupoint to stimulate it. It reaches a large number of acupoints simultaneously, and is especially useful for controlling serious pain.
